Before the trip
EES and ETIAS registration
- A new requirement for non-EU travellers to register to the Entry-Exit System (EES) before their travels to Europe is due to start in 2025, but no closer details are available. Please follow their website for updates.
- ETIAS will be in operation 6 months after EES is activated.
- Both EES and ETIAS will be mandatory once in use.
For those flying through the UK, registration to their ETA is also required.
Pack smart
Our campervans are compact, so should be your luggage. Hard suitcases are something that will limit your living space for the whole trip. If your luggage is big, there is nowhere where it will fit perfectly. Backpacks/duffle bags are highly recommended.
There are washing machines available at most campsites for a very little fee.
Plan your journey
We offer two itineraries that will lead you through the best places in Norway. You can add the itinerary to your booking in the 3rd step.
If you make the itinerary yourself, our tip is to keep it quite flexible. Weather elements and road closures might change your plans on short notice.

In Norway, you can use a valid driving licence from any EU country. Using a driving licence from a non-EU/EEA country in Norway:
- It must contain your picture and must be
- readable in the Latin alphabet (the alphabet in which you are reading this text now).

Driving Campervan
Mileage
There is no mileage limit.
If you decide to drive outside of Norway and outside this radius (north of Trondheim), our assistance is significantly limited.

Toll roads
All our campers are equipped with AUTO PASS electronic devices, so you have worry-free travel. You will only pay for what you use + 25% service fee.
Want to have an idea where are the toll dates and what are the costs? Use the Toll calculator here.
The toll system works online, and we will provide you with an overview of the tolls you have passed a few days after your drop-off.
❗There are many privately owned roads throughout Norway where you’ll need to pay tolls directly. Be sure to pay these as required, as failing to do so will lead to additional fees.
Ferries
How do I book the ferry?
In general, you don’t need to and can’t book a ferry in Norway. Ferry crossings are automatically charged to Benzini Campers using an AutoPass device in the campervan.
However, several ferry crossings require booking. These are:
How does the ferry crossing work?
It’s straightforward, and there’s absolutely nothing to stress about! First, drive to the terminal and join the queue. A staff member will scan your vehicle’s plates to apply the charge for the crossing. Once boarding time arrives, drive onto the ferry, following the staff’s instructions.
Ferry timetables
Parking
- Finding a place to park is usually not a problem, however, it might be quite tricky (and expensive) in cities like Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim or Kristiansand.
- Make always sure to pay the parking or set the clock correctly in case of free parking.
- The fine for unpaid parking is usually 660 NOK.
- The fine for wrong parking is usually 900 NOK.
- Parking tickets and invoices will be charged to the renter with an additional service fee.
Vehicle dimensions & Fuel consumption
All technical information is provided for each campervan on its dedicated page under our campers.
Travelling with children
All children under 135 cm or 36 kg must travel in a specific car seat in Norway.
Please contact us for the availability of the car child seat. We offer child seats for children weighing 9-18 kg and 15-36 kg. None of them has ISOFIX. Note that it’s the driver who is responsible for the right child seat and its correct usage.
- Britax Multi-Tech II-BX (9-18 kg)
- Maxi Cosi Tobi (9-18 kg)
- booster (15-36 kg)
Campervans with ISOFIX: Moby Dick, Golem, Wolf, Blueberry, Winston, Gibsea, Dante and others. We do not offer child seats with an ISOFIX function, however, you are welcome to bring yours.
Message us if you have any questions about travelling with baby.
AdBlue
AdBlue is a fuel additive that’s required to keep European diesel engines running. The car computer will signalise low level and the need to refill. ❗When it’s gone the engine will no longer operate.
If, during your rental, you must refill AdBlue, you can do so at most gas stations.
- The bigger ones have a pump stand where you fill the exact amount.
- Other stations sell AdBlue in plastic canisters. In that case, 5 litres will do.
AdBlue is refilled next to the fuel tank and its cap is blue. Keep the receipt.
Driving in Norway
- It takes longer than what your GPS says
- Roads are narrow
- Almost no highways
- Speed limits are low
Check out these and more things you need to know about driving in Norway.
Driving out of Norway
Our goal is that as many people as possible get to see the beauty of the southern Norway. If you for some reason want to discover another Scandinavian country, we allow driving to Sweden, Denmark and Finland. You must inform us about driving abroad beforehand. We can not guarantee the same road assistance conditions abroad.
Visiting Lofoten
Are you sure? Driving from Sandefjord/Oslo to Lofoten is comparable to driving to Paris, but without the convenience of highways in Norway. If you were to drive straight without any stops, it would take about 22 hours and cover 1500 km. With overnight stops, the trip would stretch to 3 days one way.
We are located in the south of Norway, and we primarily focus on southern Norway travel. It doesn’t make much sense to rent from us if your main goal is just to drive to Lofoten, especially since there are campervan rentals available in the north. Don’t forget you’ll need at least 5 days to discover the area.
When is Lofoten a good idea? Your booking is appropriately long for such a journey (more than 16 days). You are exploring the whole of Norway and end up in Lofoten. Then we are jealous and want to actually join you. 🙂
National Scenic Routes
Have you heard about the list of 18 National Scenic Routes in Norway? No? Then you should definitely check it out!
Not only this is a perfect help to plan your journey, but you will also learn a lot about the regions you are passing. Be aware that many of the routes close for winter and reopen during late spring. All info is on their website.
Pets on board
You can bring your pet partner with you*. Remember, our campervans are compact-sized, so should be your pet. Please discuss this with us before booking.
You must deliver the campervan cleaned of all pet traces, final cleaning doesn’t cover cleaning up after a pet.
*City Campers are not pet-friendly.
Malfunction
Problems with the car, not caused by negligence:
- If the vehicle produces an unusual sound, a warning light appears, you observe smoke, or if something is not functioning properly, please stop the car immediately and inform us. This will allow us to provide you with instructions for your next steps.
- We try to solve the problem together
- If we can’t solve the problem, we call road assistance for you which is available 24/7*
- The road assistance will help you. If they can’t, they will take you to the closest workshop
*The road assistance is free of charge if the issue wasn’t caused by the driver. If you have only the Basic Insurance plan and need the road assistance because of a flat tire or wrong usage of fuel, the liability (500 nok) will be charged to you.
24/7 Road Assistance
All our campervans have access to 24/7 roadside assistance. Each use of the assistance incurs a fee of 500 NOK. Should you purchase an additional insurance plan, the road assistance is free of charge.
Should you need road assistance because of the vehicle malfunction no fee is charged to you.
Our campervans

In the price stated is included everything one needs for a campervan road trip, so you can come only with a toothbrush and a light backpack.

In general, it is the camper itself, basic insurance, unlimited mileage, extra driver, independent heater, bed/sofa, sleeping bag/duvet, gas stove, cooking equipment, fridge, USB charging ports, CO2 alarm and fire extinguisher. Custom-built campers have insulated walls and floor, roof windows with an insect net and blinds, cosy lights…

Heater
All our campervans are equipped with a parking heater that can be used throughout the whole night. The car engine doesn’t need to and can’t be running.
The heater is powerful enough to keep you warm even in winter months. Be aware that with an open roof on VW California models, the warmth escapes the car much quicker.

Is insurance included?
Yes, every camper comes with basic insurance. CDW (Collision damage waiver) is mandatory in Norway and it covers damage to the driver, passengers, other people’s vehicles and other people’s property.

Absolutely! Every summer, we encounter unfortunate situations affecting our guests. Whether it’s a cancelled flight, a storm making travel impossible, or health issues, having travel insurance is essential.
Camping
Where to camp
In Norway, wild camping is allowed. Please be respectful to the locals and our nature. Check out more info about the right to roam free.
There are over 1000 camping grounds in Norway and here is the list of our favourite campsites in Western Norway. Booking of campsites is usually not possible. You can, however, try to call them and find out how’s the situation. Search for campsites for example on Campio.
You can also download the “park4night” app where you can look for wild camping spots and campsites alike.
Nortrip is a network of unique hosts throughout Scandinavia that let you camp at their properties for free. Annual membership is 499 NOK (like two nights at campsite).
Wild camping in Norway
In Norway, wild camping is allowed. Please be respectful to the locals and our nature. Check out more info about the right to roam free.
Download park4night app.
Where to shower
While our City Camper models offer the convenience of an onboard shower, the other models are more simple. If renting a campervan without a shower, you can add one from our add-ons.
Many of the camping grounds will let you take a shower for free or for a small charge. Public swimming pools with saunas are never a bad choice. Otherwise, a beautiful crystal clear lake is never too far.
Where to fill up water
The water tank can be refilled at all camping grounds, campervan service stations and most gas stations. There are usually water hoses and the water is drinkable. There are also many pit stops with water refills usually by beaches, tourist areas, camping spots or National Tourist Routes.
Where to buy cooking gas
For portable gas stoves: Biltema, Europris, Jula, Clas Ohlson, local gas dealers and some gas stations
For a refillable 10 kg gas tank: AGA automat by gas stations or grocery stores
For a refillable 2 kg gas tank: if you don’t find full gas tank at AGA, get in touch with us and we will find the closest place to refill
After the trip
Security deposit
Your security deposit will be released in full should you bring the vehicle back in the same condition as you received it.
If the vehicle was involved in a traffic accident the deposit will be held until the case is resolved.
Possible charges after drop-off
Toll roads & ferries
Up to 7 days after your drop-off, you will receive an overview of your toll road and ferry passings. The overview will include prices and service fee. The final amount will be charged on your card.
Private toll roads
If you have used a private toll road without paying for it yourself, it will be charged to Benzini Campers. Since you are responsible for all the fees that arise during your rental period, the toll road fee, any additional charges and our service fee will be charged to you.
Parking fees & fines
You are responsible for the correct use of parking spaces during your rental period. Should we receive an invoice or a fine from your trip, it will be charged to you together with our service fee.
If you receive a parking fine in the form of a yellow ticket during your trip, the most economical way to pay it is to make the payment yourself. It’s very important to include the KID number in the bank transfer so the issuing company can identify your case. Feel free to ask for help. If you want us to pay for your parking fine a 25% service fee will be added on the top of the fine.
